Wave Rider EA MT5 combines seven Gold entry components with a choice between single-position management and grid recovery. The publisher’s current description makes recovery the default and offers several bundled recovery profiles. That choice is more important to the risk assessment than the general scalping label. The product also has a version-upgrade notice affecting identifiers and saved settings, which should be considered before comparing or updating an installation.
Entry profiles and management modes are separate choices
The system includes support/resistance, pullback, breakout, bounce, volume, momentum and an optional impulse component. Some are buy-only while others support both directions. Entry selectivity is configured separately from lot sizing and recovery behaviour. Record all three dimensions when evaluating a signal. A buy-only account and a default account may respond differently to the same Gold decline, so the two linked monitoring records should not be treated as interchangeable evidence.
Recovery must be reviewed at basket level
The described profiles coordinate spacing, targets, depth and volume behaviour. A bundled configuration can reduce accidental inconsistency between inputs, but it does not ensure recovery. Inspect the largest unresolved basket, total volume, available margin and action at the drawdown threshold. Switching to single-position mode removes the recovery layer but creates a different exit process. Compare that mode separately rather than transferring the grid configuration’s win rate or historical curve to it.
Updates and broker history affect reproducibility
The version-five notice says strategy identifiers and some input names changed, and older presets may not restore all options. Follow the author’s update procedure on a controlled installation and save a new configuration record. The publisher also qualifies older history quality and recommends a particular testing period for the current version. Keep that limitation visible. News pauses can block new entries while existing positions continue to be managed, so inactivity during a blocked window is not the same as a flat account.
Manual detail: identifiers and cooldown survive different events
The current Wave Rider manual warns against loading a 4.x set into the 5.x input layout and gives a new seven-identifier scheme. It also describes a global cooldown after the complete basket closes, with the remaining pause restored after reinitialisation. Closing one recovery leg does not begin that pause. These distinctions explain why a new entry may remain blocked after a partial closure or reload. Check the logged strategy states and effective identifiers when validating an upgrade.

Wave Rider EA MT5: tester demo and licence options
MQL5 provides tester-only demonstrations for Market EAs and indicators. Open the original listing to check its demo option. An EA demo runs its trading logic in the Strategy Tester; an indicator demo is viewed in visual testing mode. This is different from receiving a free licence to run the full product on an online chart.
For Wave Rider EA MT5, use the setup notes above to identify what the tester can demonstrate and what still requires a supported account, data source or publisher guidance. Read MQL5’s product-testing rules ↗

No. The current description explicitly identifies recovery grid as the default mode, with a separate single-position option. State which mode produced any result and review basket exposure in recovery mode. General scalping terminology does not describe the complete position-management risk.
Can I reuse an old set file after an update?
The publisher warns that changed identifiers and input names may prevent older settings from restoring fully. Follow the current update instructions and inspect the loaded values rather than assuming the file applied unchanged. Preserve a new versioned preset after verification.
