SomaGold EA

SomaGold is a single-chart XAUUSD portfolio containing 32 breakout configurations. The publisher describes components spanning D1, H12, H8 and H4, with individual identifiers, management settings and allocations. The product’s most distinctive review questions concern portfolio overlap, pending-order margin and its optional sizing behaviour. A large strategy count should not be treated as proof that the account is diversified away from Gold risk.

SomaGold EA research guide

Portfolio construction needs independent evaluation

The author describes several optimisation families and historical filtering before selecting the final set. That explains the development approach but does not remove selection bias: the retained portfolio was chosen partly because of observed results. Keep subsequent forward evidence separate from the selection periods. Review drawdown overlap between components and identify whether a few configurations dominate returns. Thirty-two entries into the same asset can still lose together during an adverse regime despite different timeframes and swing definitions.

OnlyUp sizing has a specific consequence

The optional OnlyUp behaviour keeps sizing linked to a prior capital peak instead of reducing it after losses. This can increase effective risk relative to the remaining balance during drawdown. The listing also notes that a zero maximum-lot input means no EA-level cap beyond broker limits. Those defaults deserve deliberate inspection. Compare fixed sizing with capital-stepped sizing, and verify how account-currency conversion and restored peak history affect the first calculated volume after a restart.

Pending orders require a margin budget

The publisher describes margin protection that counts same-side pending orders as potential market exposure. This addresses an important portfolio scenario: several instructions can activate before the account has much time to respond. Check the actual pending count, worst-case concurrent volume and available margin rather than relying on the current open-position display. News windows and weekly cutoffs can independently block entries, cancel orders or close positions. Confirm which action is enabled for each event and whether the GMT source aligns with broker time.

SomaGold EA: tester demo and licence options

MQL5 provides tester-only demonstrations for Market EAs and indicators. Open the original listing to check its demo option. An EA demo runs its trading logic in the Strategy Tester; an indicator demo is viewed in visual testing mode. This is different from receiving a free licence to run the full product on an online chart.

For SomaGold EA, use the setup notes above to identify what the tester can demonstrate and what still requires a supported account, data source or publisher guidance. Read MQL5’s product-testing rules ↗

SomaGold EA questions

Does 32 strategies mean 32 independent risks?

No. All components trade Gold and may react to the same move. Independence of code or parameters is different from low correlation of account losses. Examine simultaneous positions and overlapping drawdown periods, especially when several pending orders can activate together.

What should be checked before enabling OnlyUp?

Understand that size may remain tied to a previous peak after the account declines. Review the restored peak value, maximum lot and total pending exposure. Compare risk against current equity, not just the reference capital used by the sizing algorithm.
